What does it mean for art to encounter the Anthropocene?

The symposium will address the role of visual arts in communicating and discussing the complex issues related to the new human induced geological epoch known as the Anthropocene.

The symposium is the starting point for The Independent AIR’s residency and laboratory in Portugal in 2016/2017, where 5 international photographic artists will explore the theme Human Ecology // Images in the Anthropocene.

The symposium will bring together Danish and International artists, researchers, and practitioners, to discuss and explore different angles related to the interface of art and science.
